Relish

The word relish is used in two ways.  First, it can mean to savor or enjoy greatly.  For example, he relished the opportunity to visit the new country.  Relish can also mean a condiment, commonly one put on hot dogs.  How are these words related? Relish originally meant an aftertaste and came from relaisser “to leave behind”.  So then it came to mean something that you can savor for a long time.  Later it came to also mean something that actually imparts flavor, like a condiment.
