Dim Sum

Dim sum, Chinese style dumplings, is a Chinese expression meaning  ‘touch the heart’ or more literally ‘spot on the heart’.  Dim sum is a snack usually taken with tea.  It is popular with Chinese elders after their morning exercise.  By ‘touching the heart’ it means that it is not meant to fill you up, just bring a little smile to your face.

In China people are likely to have yum cha, which is their tea hour, literally translating to ‘drink tea’.  During yum cha, dim sum is most likely served.
