Basil

Basil, so the story goes, comes from the Greek word basileus meaning king.  Royalty was thought to have bathed in basil and made perfume from the plant, hence it’s association with the king.  Other words that include basil in the sense of king are basilica and basilik (the legendary king of serpents pictured above).
